State Specific Safety Measures
1
Report the Abuse. In an emergency, always dial 911. Otherwise, report the abuse by calling 1-888-SOS-Child (1-888-767-2445) to reach the Department of Child Safety.
2
File for a Domestic Violence Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment – depending on the child’s relationship to the abuser and the type of abuse, one of Arizona’s versions of Protective or Restraining Orders will apply. Find state specific instructions here. There is no cost for filing either Protective Order, but only the Domestic Violence Order of Protection can be filed on an Emergency Basis.
3
Understand your child’s rights as a victim. Local Victim Services is responsible for keeping you informed of case updates.
4
If you have moved in the last 90 days, or plan to move to an address unknown to the abuser, contact one of the Application Assistants to sign up for Arizona’s Address Confidentiality Program. It is important to note that Arizona requires one piece of documentation of victimization of the primary victim of domestic violence, sexual offenses or stalking. Both the police reports or protective orders earlier in this list qualify.
